چکیده

This chapter provides a brief overview regarding the knowledge on Amazonian edible plants, traditional or unconventional, and general aspects related to them. The Amazon rainforest is complex biome, endowed with rich biological diversity inhabited by several indigenous peoples communities, which results in existence of an extensive biocultural heritage. Among plant species dietary practices, this also exists. Considering different groups foods, fruits, grains, pulses, tuberous roots are most important diet population. We can see that there great number ethnovarieties cultivated plants maintained local populations. Most biodiversity has been poorly studied, mainly relation botanical, agronomic, phytochemical aspects. lack due, part, small institutions researchers dedicated these studies human financial resources region, its size. It concerning all sociobiodiversity threatened deforestation biome other threats communities hold use plants.
